Car jack question
Im painting my calipers today and I read that each takes about an hour to dry before you can put the wheel back on. Unfortunately, all I have for jacks is the one that came with the car, as well as two other audi a4 jacks. would it be bad to jack up two tires at once? Any suggestions? I dont feel like doing it one at a time with only one jack unless i absolutely have to. thanks
One word: Jackstands. $20-$30/pair at your local auto parts store. Each only has to be as sturdy as whatever portion of the car their holding up. For instance, my car weighs just under two tons. To prop up the entire car would requiire each stant to suppoer 1/2 ton. I prefer to err on teh side of caution, so each of my jackstands will support 2-tons in it's own right. Your money, your car, your life, your call...
i got a jack with 2 stands at sears for $30. well worth the money. no only if i can get them back from the person lent them to who lent them to someone else......<----just by your own.....
do not use our jack stands for anything unless you have to. they are designed to be quick and ez to use ...but not safe

Yeah! Forgot to mention that. NEVER, EVER, EVER work on or under (expecially UNDER) a car supported only by the tire jack. If you're gonna DIY, buy some stands. A good hydraulic (bottle-style) jack would also be a good investment. Better and sturdier that the tire jack, but ONLY as sturdy as the ground it placed on. Make sure you've got solid pavement to work on. Beware of asphalt on hot summer days. Even with jackstands. It can soften as it heats up.

i love pulling stand out of the ground when i am done
The audi jack is fine if you are not going to be under the car. It is a very very sturdy jack however, only a **** jockey would get under a car that isn't supported by good car stands. Do not EVER EVER EVER jack up a car on oneside then with a second jack start jacking up the other. Not only is this stupid, it is a dangerous. Either do it 1 wheel at a time or go buy some car stands. They're too cheap not to invest in.
