To test the DV valve for holding vaccum find someone that has a manual vaccum pump gun, pump up the vaccum to like 15 inches of vaccum and see if it holds, if it doesn't the DV valve is bad or needs to be re-built. To test the vaccum to it just use the same vaccum gun and put in on the vaccum line while the engine is running and make sure its getting around 15-18 hg at idle.

I'm assuminghe's worried more abouthis boost thanthe noise. He said it lacks the power it used to, andhe is thinking it may be the DVbecause it doesn't sound like it used to.You've helped me before, but your e-bullying isn't impressing me, acetrebo. I'd say go with auditech's advice and just check all the vac lines, etc.
thankyou very much

check the normal stuff vag lines and other things like that, if it doesnt work see if you can switch out your DV and check to make sure he put the air intake hoses and filter in right.

do you get it? i had my dv sounding great yesterday and now i cant hear it at all. are you gonna try to help me or throw out random bs. yeah i get it haha make fun of bov, isnt everybody i little tired of that around here by now.. your funny. if i wanted that sound i would have a bov. so if your not gonna try to help please dont even waste your time
What was your car boosting at before the service? You didn't indicate a boost issue, just a noise problem. You might enjoy life a little more if you learn to take a f*cking joke once in a while.
If its a boost issue, maybe you should indicate that your car is not boosting normally, rather than "my DV is not as loud as it was before".
I cant even hear my DV at all (thank god) soI dont know what to tell you about the noise, maybe try one of the useless airbox mods you'll find with a simple search.

i just got my car back from getting the timing belt, water pump, and thermostat changed. im at 100,000. i also got my snub mount installed too. i got my car back and it boosts to 13,14 but i cannot hear my dv worth anything and the boost does not seem strong. do you think he could of unhooked something and hooked it back up wrong. were should i start looking. i looked at the dv. all hooked up. i have an intake and before i took it in my dv was really loud. also my boost doesnt seem to be as loud.
thats pretty good evidence to me that i was talking about a boost problem also. idk maybe i'm dumb. i cant take a joke? it's a little hard to tell if someone is joking on a forum, and for that i am sorry. but i have had the airbox mod in my car, and it sounded ok. then i stepped up and made an intake and it sounded alot better. im not new at modding my car. im just trying to figure out why it doesnt seem to sound the same as it used to.

Well, you have a boost guage, what was it boosting before? And what is it boosting now?
If there is a leak or the dv is not working right, the numbers should be different.
And yes, my post of the BOV sound was meant as a joke, to me the whole bov sound thing is a big joke.
Not sure how the sound could change if the boost levels are the same. The work you had done should not affect it. It could be the intake that makes the boost seem off, most have reported a small loss of torque with an intake on stock turbo.

Acetrebo you are my hero... Please continue to post that link wherever applicable. It never gets old, and only gets funnier.
Kraylon- Every 10k miles would be safe for cleaning/re lubing. Replace the spring/0 rings as needed whenever you hear it flutter or see boost loss.

y does everyone think im such a noob. i know it's a dv and it's not as loud as a bov. all im saying is, dont you think there is a slight chance that something is going on, if when i dropped it off there it was alot louder than it is now. i just dont get how that makes me into a "wannabe ricer" because me car doesnt sound the way it did 2 days ago, and i think there might be something changed. i guess however if it does classify me as a "wannabe ricer" then i'll have to gladly except that, as long is my car is running like it should be.

Well, answer the question.......
