Castrol 75w90 out - GM Synchromesh IN!
Just got done putting GM Synchromesh in my car. I have noticed a few things...
1-2 shift smoothed out
3-2 shift is MUCH smoother
2-1 is better as well...
Overall I think shifting is better. Was it noticeable? It sure was, especially with the small bit of city driving I did.
Interestingly enough the Castrol Syntec 75w90 (GL5) came out a VERY brown color, and wasn't clear - it was opaque. Pretty surprising seeing as how it didn't have more than 7k on it.
Now all I need for butter smooth, percise shifts is to adjust my short shifter.

LoL, I swear I was just going to ask you about this 2 days ago since spring is here!
Do you think new fluid is responsible for the difference or do you honestly think it is the Synchromesh? Have you put in new fluid before and this seems to be immediately much better compared to that? Have you ever had Pentosin Redline MT-90 to provide a comparison for me?

I had the OEM fluid then put in the Syntec 75w90 - not a lot of difference at all. Put in the synchromesh - Instant difference, seriously!
Haven't used anything else, but the GM stuff is a keeper. I'll probably change it in 35-40k.
I got the synchromesh at the local GM dealer, however you can get penzoil synchromesh for far less. I believe that the blends are different, but they may be very much the same.
I dunno which auction I got my ebay SS from.

Of course I did it myself. I don't trust garages. Search for pics. It's almost as simple as changing your oil.
The drain plug is at the very bottom & the fill plug is right below the drivers front axle.
