I just finished instaling an oil catch can.

It was probly one of the easiest mods Ive done and after drivin 5 minutes theres already oil specs in it

I was getting realy sick of cleaning my intake hoses[:'(] now I wont have too

I post pictures soon and do a walk through it was too dark by the time I wrapped up to get any

 

What is a catch can, exactly? Is it sort of like a coolant overflow tank?

 

One more thing, why was ther oil in your intake pipes?

 

On the your car you have a crankcase vent that vents into your intake behind your maf the catch can catches the oil and blowby vapors and traps them instead of just pumping them through you intake piping

on older cars they just have breathers

....Turbo charged engines are prone to the accumulation of an oil sludge mixture inside the intake tract. Oil vapor is forced out of the cylinder head and redirected through vacuum hoses into the intake stream. The oil vapor condenses onto surfaces within the intercooler and intake system. This is especially prominent in the intercooler core.This is a result of crankcase pressure and inefficient combustion. While this condition is normal it is a hindrance to creating high horsepower and increasing engine longevity.

Thought Id do a writeup like I said I would and because some people have asked

Alright first thing you have to do is get the parts you can buy a kit on ebay for about as cheap as you can put one to gether.
But I used an air oil/water seperator from an air compressor because its alot smaller than a big tank some kits use and easy to dran without spilling. Youll also need some heater hose to fit on the big red pipe in the picture I used 3/4 inch. Youll also need fitings for the setup you choose

If you wanna do it the way I did first youll need and intake like my HKS kit...ok done. Then youl need to remove the hose clamp from the red pipe below where it says cut and then remove the other one a little lower and take the rubber coupling off. now loosen the hose clamp on the intake pipe that holds the plastic thing that the rubber coupling came off of. (youll see what I mean) leave it loose so you can get it where you want it latter.
OK now youll need to cut the pipe where it says "CUT". make sure you cover any openings that you dont want junk to get into when you cut.
Now if you got the same filter I got Filter now youll need connectors to go from 1/4 to around 3/4 without leaking...(good luck).
If you wish to mount it in the same place as me youll need some type of 180 fitting that comes off at an angle I bent my own pipe for this (please hold the jokes) so that the hose doesnt kink when you rout it back to that plastic thingy on the intake pipe
Then youll need to connect everything and mount your filter some how I used a small L bracket as you can see in the pics in my other posts

Looking back now It would have been easyer to use a reducer to go from 3/4 down to 3/8 then run all the hoses and filter then back up to 3/4 into the intake But I was sick of runnin around for stuff.

Note: when I took this red pipe off a while ago it was completely clogged with sludge make sure yours isnt before you do this... Also if you follow me and cut the pipe be sure you have everything planed out as pipes do not grow back.

Nice chris, i've though about doing that to mine, but i heard it starts to stink after the can fills up a little!
