Default CD Changer Problem

Hello All,
I have the following problem with my cd changer, and any help is highly appreciated. WHen I insert the magazine in the CD changer it reads the CDs one by one without any problem, and everything looks and sound fine. However, in the stereo control console, when I push the "mode" button" to change from Tape to Radio to CD Changer, it does not change to CD changer. Currently only Radio and Tape work, and the console behaves as if no CD Changer is connected to the system. I have a 98.5 A4 1.8T. What would the problem be?? and How can I fix it, if possible. Thanks in advance.

Has it worked before? I'm assuming that you've checked all pertinent connections?

Yes, it's a stock CD Changer, and I have been using it. The problem started only recently. Mine has bose system, if it makes any difference. I will check the connections tomorrow, but I would be suprised if the connection cables got loose, because the cd changer is placed in a well protected compartment, it does not move at all. Anyways, anyone experienced similar problem before?

check both connections coming from the cd changer and also connections goin into the head unit... something may have come loose... also try resetting the whole radio unit by pulling out the fuse or disconectiong the battery for about 30 min - hour

I have the same exact problem. It started when I disconnected the CD changer cable in the trunk to connect this device in order to plug in my ipod:

USA SPEC Auxiliary Interface

And for some reason, this blew the fuse behind the factory radio. I replaced the fuse and the radio went into SAFE mode, as expected. Not a problem, I then entered the radio code and the radio came back but now nothing happens when I click on the MODE button. (FM and AM work fine).

I unplugged the USA SPEC box and plugged the CD changer back in but still, the MODE button doesn't do anything.

I checked the connections and they all look good. Any ideas what could be going on?

afek, have you been able to fix this problem?
