CEL Mess

After over two weeks of being in and out of the shop my cars CEL turned on again. It started 3 weeks ago where the engine started idling inconsistantly, I brought it in and was told that the hoses need to be swapped and the "cold air" intake system that the guy before me put in wasn't braketedproperly andwas ripping itself out, swapped back to stock and the engine code cleared for about 6 blocks on the way home. Brought it back in after scanning

16795 - Secondary Air Injection System: Incorrect Flow Detected
P0411 - 35-00 - -
17549 - Load Calculation Cross Check: Implausible Value
P1141 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
17537 - Fuel Trim: Bank 2 (Mult): System too Rich
P1129 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
17658 - Fuel Level too Low
P1250 - 35-00 - -
17535 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Mult): System too Rich
P1127 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

they guy at the shop said it was the MAF, only charged me cost and the car ran great for about 30 miles.
Today on my way to the train I was at a light and the rmp kinda hicuped and then the light came on again.
Whats going on with this car?

It helps if you tell us your yr/engine type. Obviously its a V6, but is it a 2.8 or 3.0??? Seems like its MAF related. Have the codes cleared and see which ones come back if you didnt have him do that when it got worked on the first time. A couple of those could be old as fuck and have nothing to do with whats going on.

I cleared the codes on saturday and this just happened about an hour or two ago so i have gotten a chance to scan again, the MAF is litterally brand new, and yeah its a 98 2.8qm

RE: CEL Mess

I would say MAF or o2 sensor. check fuses as well.

RE: CEL Mess

+1 for 02 sensors, and possibly a vaccum leak.

RE: CEL Mess

Is there anything else that this could be though? cause all those things passed the tests and i think all of the vac lines are new. The repair guy mentioned the car taking a while to adjust, could this just take time to pass?

RE: CEL Mess

Yeah when I replaced my MAF it took a while for the ecu to adjust (about a days worth of driving)... That is a good point.

I read something somewhere a while ago about leaving the key in the on position but not starting the car for the throttle body to readjust (does that even play in here),also the other intern at my office said sefoam the gas tank, are these relavent?

RE: CEL Mess

If your battery is ever diconnected for whatever reason you should always do a throtle body alignment. A TBA wont hurt, try it. If you havent ran a fuel system cleaner in a while, a can of seafoam in the gas tank wont hurt either. I doubt either one is the solution to your fault codes, but ya never know.

RE: CEL Mess

if you had the battery disconnectedi would check your fuses. I had mine off and when I hooked it back up there were like 9 codes thrown and a CEL.
