i went to the dealer today to find out about getting another key, since i only have one for my car.... this morning my gf locked her keys in her car (taurus) but luckily i had the extra key on my ring. so it got me thinking about the fact i have the one and only key for mine. so if i lost it at school or locked in the car, i would be SOL. so my parents really want to have a key to the car as well.

the dealer wants ~$150 for the key fob and then extra to program it to the car.

what are you guys doing to get a new key for a reasonable price? i mean $200+ is pretty steep for a key fob (to me anyways)

lol, if you get a keyless fob like the newer german and even the jap cars, you will be paying hundreds. Expect like $800 for a fob, i belive thats how much a 7 series bmw is. But yeah it is expensive, you can program a key fob yourself, just search and you should be able to ifnd the instructions to do it. As for buying one less than $150 check ebay i guess, maybe classifieds too.
