Check Engine Light - P0722 output speed sensor
 

2005 Audi A4 1.8T Convert; auto tranny; 51K miles

Light just came on this week. Autozone read code.

Is this really a sensor to replace or complete tranny replacement? Conflicting posts here. Can I fix this myself?

Does someone still have a complete step by step repair so my daughter can save $2000 (current mechanic quote w/o seeing the car).

Now CEL no longer comes on.
Are we no longer in need of a $2K repair? Or is worse damage being done while light is out?

So the CEL goes on/off every other day or so.

Is this a sensor issue? Is there a bigger problem? Do we really need to fix this?
