Default Chip

Hi,

I am considering buying a powerchip for my audi a4 2.4v6 2002, as i live in the U.A.E. They quote that the increase will be from the stock 125kx to 142kw, and torque will be from 230nm to 255nm.

Are these figures realistic?

They sound very realistic. It's going to be hard for us to say though as almost none of us live in the UAE. We don't even get that engine in our Audi's over here in the USA.

dude, you are speaking a completely different language. We measure the engines in hp and ft*lbs.
sorry, I can't help, but chips are normally pretty good on our cars.

Thanks for the response, but isnt an increase of 23bhp for a 170bhp car pretty unrealistic? I have posted a similar comment on www.tyresmoke.net and the majority of people are saying that it is not realistic.

Thanks

Oh I didn't notice the car was normally aspirated! If it was turbo than that would be easy to get, but with a N/A car you can only expect to see only a few extra HP numbers.

If your chip is from a tuner called Tec-Power WKR then those numbers are correct. As I mentioned in a post last week, there aren't that many tuners stateside that can produce or program those types of gains on a normally aspirated car. I had my 3.0L chipped by Tec-Power WKR (German tuner) and they produced a +20 horses and +20Nm of torque, I would consider nice gains for a NA car. The web-site is in German but I'll post it in a few. BTW how much are they asking for chipping your car?

Here's Tec-Power's website. www.wkr-chip-tuning.de Its in German so once you're in the home page click on Farzeuge then select PKW then click on chiptuning. So where it shows hersteller click and select your vehicle. Let me know if its the same tuner you're working with.

Thanks for the response, powerchips are quoting approximately the same figure and the said that the power would be thorughout the revs, i.e. driveability, not only top end power. They are quoting 990Australian $ (US$740) including shipping, and that it is warranted for 3 years and if i am not satisfied with it, they will refund me. Were you satisfied with your power increase? Could you feel it?

Thanks.

I'm very satisifed with the WKR chip, and thats correct, its very responsive throughout the powerband. I had my chip installed via audi, this ensured honoring my warranty. But I believe you'll appreciate the extra horses. Good investment, make it happen.
