Default chip 2.8?

Well the fever of modding has struck me also ... I was wondering if its even worth to chip a 2.8? 15hp increase for 500 bucks? I was wondering if anyone here has chipped their 2.8 and how it worked out? I am just tempted to sell my 2.8 for a 1.8, but my special attachment to my 2.8 is holding me back lol.

Some babe wrote a review of the SpeedTuning chip in her 2.8 Avant recently. It won't be hard to find through the search...you could start there.

speedtuning is apparently the way to go for 2.8 drivers since its cheaper than giac, does teh same thing as giac, and performs the same as giac, sadly no one pays attention to the workhorse that is the 12 valve V6.

Have you driven either GIAC or Speedtuning chipped 2.8 to be an authority on the matter? The 12v gets its praises for being a solid and reliable engine, nothing more.

Yeah my reliable, slow, and old 12v. half of me wants the TB to break so I can try and transplant a 12 VR6T in there and do a 034 kinda deal. But I'd need a second car first, so I'll keep my reliable workhorse of a 12v around just a bit longer

As for the original question, I'd just save up and get the PEs supercharger if I had a 30v

Well, GIAC claims to give 6-9 hp and 6-9 ft-lbs of torque...for a measly, what, $500? That's got to be the stupidest buy out there. No, I feel like I gained AT LEAST that with SpeedTuning, maybe closer to 15-20 hp and torque. Plus, the fact that it only costs $125 + shipping makes it even more appealing. That chip is a great deal for a turboed car, but I think the price and gains really make this perfect for the V6 engine. To be fair, I have never driven a GIAC chipped 2.8 engine, but it's irrelevant because I NEVER would have spent that kind of money on a chip for this car.
