Yeah, I joined in hopes that this will get bigger, I really don't like the format of the forums at AudiWorld.com. I just bought a '98 A4 1.8T FronTrack Manual Trans, and need to make it go fast but have a limited budget. Im gonna put some snow tires on it then get a chip, which one do people recommend?

Has anyone had any experience with the Neuspeed 1.8T .8 bar P-chip? That's the one I am considering because it costs 1/2 as much as the APR/Wetteruer/ or GIAC chips.

From what i heard neuspeed chips are sh*t, but thats what i just heard, never had any experience with them myself and also of your car still has warranyt i suggest buying a whole new board and putting the new chip into that. if you ever need to do warranty service you just put the old board in there.

I have the GIAC X chip, but it is only available for the 2001 cars.

APR offers a great chip with the EMCS fuctions it is a definite top 2 choice

GIAC also makes an excellent chip

some other chips that aren't too popular anymore but are solid choices: Wetterauer, Neuspeed, Autothority.

Depends what you want from the chip and what upgrade path you want to go with. Ie: If you want an APR stage 3 in the future get the APR chip, upgrades are free. If you want the PES T28 kit or a GIAC K04 upgrade, start with a GIAC chip.

the site isn't working for me either. What chip was the group buy for?

I've dealt with Supreme Power Parts before (definitley recommended) and they sell everything neuspeed. I think you would be happier with a 1.0/1.1 bar chip.Check them out.
