Whenever I hook up any radar detecter in the cigarrette lighter socket it does not even turn on. Although the lighter itself is able to warm up, but other accessories like radar detecters or phone chargers are not.

I checked and replaced the fuse, but it did not help. Any ideas on what else I can look at?

 

If lighter works, problem is not the fuser. I have the same problem, I mean kind of. I have lighter light and it does not work. If I use phone charger it works.

I think the problem is our lighter hole is not deep enough to hold some other kind of lighter sockets. I dont know it is just my idea.

 

I was thinking that too... Its a very "shallow" socket.

 

You can also try bending the pins in the socket inward. They may not be making good conntact with the socket. Just make sure you remove the fuse BEFORE bending the pins inward.

heres a problem for ya...

mine is haunted and when you press it it stays down and it pops up whenever it wants to.

 

look and see if the tip of the addapter (thing you plug in) is bigger than the place it has to go inside the socket. my friend had this prob on his truck.

 

I have 2 sporadicly working cig lighters, the socket itself works fine, but the lighters don't. I rarely use them anyway and don't need to buy a new one.
