Default Code 17964 - Symptom: Jerky Acceleration --- help?

When accelerating pretty hard (close to full throttle) my Audi A4 jerks and runs very choppy above 3000RPM rather than accelerating smoothly.

I just got the codes cvhecked, and there was only one code: 17964 - i know this is some kind of intermittent pressure problem.

The car has an APR chip and a Forge 007 Diverter Valve. All Vacuum lines and Coils are brand new. The turbo is getting boost and the wastegate is working properly.

Anything you know about this code or what could possibly be causing it would be very helpful. Our mechanic is looking into it as well.

17296 - P1556 = turbocharger pressure - control limit not reached, probable faults are wastegate regulating valve, intake leak, defective turbo

Check to see if the valve is holding boost.

I have this problem too. Chips and DBW dont mix that well sometimes. I have searched on this code tons of times and there is no solution. DBW engines have a boost sensor in the IC and I believe there is a conflict with that and the chip. What is happening is that you are overboosting in high rpms at WOT. In all my searching, i have NEVER come accross a NDBW engine that has gotten this code. NDBW engines also do not have a boost sensor in the IC. I just think it has to do with the timing of what goes on between the gas pedal, boost-requested vs actual, and when that boost gets to the boost sensor in the IC. I have posted about this several times. I have no leaks, i have replaced my DV and everything else checks out. It only happens at WOT close to or at redline. Your jerking about 3000 rpms sounds like a bad coil pack, or spark plug, or even a bad MAF. If you have replaced everything but the MAF, and have over 70k miles, i would replace the MAF. Sometimes they dont trigger a MAF specific code when they are bad, just like other parts. So i dont think your code has anything to do with the jerking above 3k rpms.

i sent a message to APR and they claimed that the APR performance chip does not have any type of side effect like this and it isn't causing my problem.

How much does an MAF cost? and do i just open the hood up and pop the new one in or is it more involved than that?

I usually just take it easy on the throttle and stay inder 3k rpm's to avoid damaging things, but the other day i got curious to see if the problem is still occuring since the code is intermittent. Well guess what? It was completely smooth, even with a WOT. I let off right away, but i went ahead and wrapped her up again today. Same thing! No problems at all, she's running beautiful. So what possible problems does this cancel out? It surely can't be a defective turbo if it's intermittent. How about the MAF? can that cause intermittent problems?

The valve has only about 8k miles on it, it's new, Forge 007 DV. Theoretically it would be rediculous for the valve to not be working properly.

Not sure what it was. Perhaps the wastegate was sticking. Doesn't sound like MAF problems. I don't know if the forge has interchangable springs, but perhaps the spring tension isn't correct.

Forge does make a set of interchangeable springs but i dont have it, I just have whatever ever spring is standard for it. I've had the DV for around 5-10k miles, the problem starting occuring quite a while after that.

The APR performance upgraded is a REFLASH of my original chip. AKA, i pulled my ECU out of my car and mailed it to APR. They reflashed it, and sent it back.
