Compression test writeup
I don't know if there is a write up but I did it a while ago,
-bought the tester from advance auto parts. I think I paid $30 or something;

engine should not be cold or hot. should be warm.
take out all the spark plugs and cables. unplug all the injector power connectors.
insert and secure the hose one of the spark plug's hole then attack the gauge then crank it 3-4 times. note it.
do it twice at least dont over crank it wait a while after each crank to keep the battery safe level.
factory numbers are between 147-191psi.
my numbers were; second test is in pharantesises.
| 0 | -> 175 (180)
| |
| 0 | -> 166 (170)
| |
| 0 | -> 164 (180)
| |
| 0 | -> 159 (186)
easy to do, good luck

Ok, i did it with my uncle, i had 180 on all the cylinders except the one close to the front of the car(cylinder 1 or 4?). I got 120 on that cylinder which confirms my guess that i have a bent valve. Thanks though arif, i found the writeup when i just searched compression lol oh well, sometimes the search button can be tricky.

I had to look for it too...that was a while ago. How do think you bent a valve? Did the timing belt go on you?

No, been battling locating this misfire problem for a while, and i didnt have enough time to deal with it being at school. So of course when i have time to fix it, the car misfires and isnt the same after. Now im taking it all apart with my uncle.
I was suggested that the car sucked a valve by my next door neighbor who is very very smart about engines, but he was just guessing, and ill take his guess till i find out for myself.
