Control Arms from HELL

Man, what a PITA. I bought the full Meyle HD kit plus sway bar links. I got started on Saturday and spent the whole day just trying to get the pinch bolt out on the drivers side. Day 1 gone.

Sunday I finally got that sucker after cutting off the end and using a BFH and punch. Then the lower CA thread seized up and I had to cut that bolt. Then the sway bar link thread was siezed up and I had to cut that one off. Finally finished the drivers side before dark and started hammering on the passenger side. Day 2 gone.

Today I took off work to finish up. Had to cut the pinch bolt again. Same as the drivers side, I had to cut the lower CA and sway bar link bolts. Then for the rear lower CA, the directions say you can loosen up a plate so the arm drops down and you can remove the bolt. It worked on the drivers side, but no way on the passenger side. Had to cut that bolt and then put the new bolt in from the other side (I put that bolt up into the steel casting and pushed it in through the CA bushing. Finally finished up around 2:30.

Luckily the dealer could fit me in for an alignment. Test drive on the way over and my ABS is going crazy. They do the alignment and spray the sensor and say its fixed. As soon as I left it was still acting up. Had to pop the wheels again to clean the sensors. That finally took care of the problem.

So after 3 days (can't work at night), liberal use of PBblaster and the hacksaw, I finally got all of my control arms and sway bar links replaced. Car's suspension sounds and feels solid. I am so glad to be done. DAMN NORTHERN CARS!

LOL, I love it.

I don't start new threads often (usually just answer people's questions), but when I do, I always get zero responses. Can't even get a 'Hmmm, sounds SH*TTY'

Thanks Rhyn

Yea the pinch bolts are crazy. I would hammer and hammer on them for like an hour. Eventually they just gave in and would pop out. Just have to get them to break loose.
