Not sure in how long, but the sooner you do it the better. G12 doesnt play well with others. You can search the forums for a more relistic amount of time since i dont know.

i did the same thing you did
pulled over, fixed the problem.. but had no coolant (it was about 9-10pm, no vw/audi places near by) so I had to walk to a gas station to get some generic coolant (pink/peach in color 50/50 with water) and had to mix it with my current coolant.. I haven't really driven the car much sinse then, but I'm also waiting for a day when it's not ice/snow/mud on the ground to flush my coolant.
except i ran it for a month strangely now my car is coughing. cincy, any input on a timeslot of damage occurence here. a coolant flush is already on schedule for this weekend after reading

i have run the G12 mixed with Prestone coolant - the reformulated type- that states on the label it can be mixed with all coolant types. It has been over 50K miles and not one problem - no thick coolant. It's a myth, but I wouldn't trust any other off the shelf brand. Only Prestone Reformulated or G12 only.

Instead of making an entire new thread.. I flushed my system but I have half a liter left of water/g12 mix, so I'm assuming I have air in the system.. I did some searching and find out theres screws, or something on the back of the engine I need to let lose to bleed the system? can anyone explain to me where to find it and what to do?

also, would the air in the system cause any problems? my heat works just fine and my baby is running beautifully as far as I know.

There is this compound mixture you can purchase at ecstuning that gets air bubbles out of coolant. I just am not sure if it is supposed to be mixed while placing new fluids or can you just dump the bottle in tank.

http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/...productID=1804

*at end of listing, it states 'by eliminating air bubbles in cooling systems of diesel engines.'. Yet ecs has this listing under my car specs. I assume it can work on all apllications just as the application guide states.

This is a new question. I was planning on doing a coolant flush, but read in the manual that there is an addative that Audi Dealerships sell. Here is what the manual says:

"Never use any coolant addative other than our G12 A8D addative (check label) for your vehicle. This coolant addative is available ar authoriszed Audi Dealers"

Would you just add this addative instead of going through the troubles of a coolant flush? The coolant was changed maybe 3 months ago but they filled to incorrect line. And the manual says that the coolant that the dealership places is a permanant coolant. I just happened to buy my car used, but from reputable dealership (they placed new fluids before I purchased). The easier route seems to just add the addative that is listed in the manual. And if I did the coolant flush (diy), I might end up with same scenerio as 'tdn'.

if you still havent added anything to the car, just add in some distilled water to the max line and be done. If you did add something besides G12 or Water, flush and fill it. Just run a bunch of wather through the system and then refill with G12 and Distilled water.
