cooling fan clutch assembly removal
re: 2000 A4 1.8T (ATW)
Ok ... In working my way towards the water pump, you have to pull the alternator, power steering pump and cooling fan assembly. Problem is ... you can't pull the alternator without removing the cooling fan clutch assembly. Everything I read says the clutch assembly is removed with a face pin spanner wrench and 32mm open end spanner wrench. That's all well and good, but the nut on the outside of the cooling fan housing is 46mm, not 32mm.
Am I losing my mind or does someone know something I don't? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
