Default couple mechanical problems

First off, my car has had a rough time starting lately, but i replaced the battery so i know it can't be that. I'm assuming its the alternator. Anyone wanna point me in the direction of where it is located and where i can purchase one (besides the dealership)?

Second, i had a major boost leak (im chipped) that i located was coming from the intake manifold gasket. I replaced it and it ran fine until it blew out again. My buddy told me theres a certain type of sealant used on the intake manifold gasket for certain audis that are chipped. Anyone have any idea what or where i could purchase this?

Thanks for your help.

If it were the alternator the battery light would be on in the dash, not to mention after you replaced the battery it should crank like a bad out of hell. Its probably the starter, check the voltage to the starter first.

The second claim is bogus, replace your DV and find any hoses that may be loose.

First what plugs you using and the gap?

I wouldnt replace the alternater until i have it tested first. And as for the gasket, replace it with this and you shouldnt have a problem, no sealent please

Rule 1 of diagnosis, always start with the simple and most common problem. After those are proven to be ok then move on to larger things like an intake manifold gasket.
