Default Crazy Snow trip...need help!

Ihave a 99.5 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro Tip. After a few months of planning, finally Feb. 9th had come to go snowboarding/camping. I live inLong Beach, CAand was headed out toward Big Bear Mountainresort abouta good 100 miles to the base of the mountain and another 45 miles up the curvy road,.........down shifting, hitting corners going 80 mph all the way to the top of the mountain....Then after 1 1/2 hours of intense driving through the mountain I notice my car started to lag when pushing the gas...I thought nothing of it, thought it was just the high elavation effecting the performance...so i drove the car like i would drive it any other day at Big Bear...and saw a pile of snow and ice in a empty lot, so I decide to test out the car and see quattro in action...drove the car into the lot and hita 1 foot pile of snow and instantly the car was stuck in the snow....tried everything you can imagine to try to get it out...but after 30 min high revs with only the left rearwheel actually spinning I got it out....started to drive toward the cabin and "ding, ding" the low oil sign lit, so I stop and check the oil.....dang......dang....there was no oil at all....look under the car....see oil dripping and I finally look under the hood and see oil every where....finally see where the oil was coming from....it was the big metal piece with 2 big hose under the coolant resevior that the oil filter is fitted too, it leaking heavy....WHAT IS THAT PIECE CALLED? and What does it doo? How can I replace it? Please help.....

Anyways, the car is back in my garage today after driving down the moutain to go get a Uhaul Truck and a hitch flat bed, then driving back up the moutain to go pick it up and then going down again to go home....THANKS for any help.

Ah the ultimate question - they left this snow here? I wonder if there is a reason I shouldn't drive through it? ah who cares - ............ShlT
Don't know - all your wheels should have been spining, not just one - don't know how much you screwed up.

you got it out with only the LR wheel running? once I got stuck in 1 1/2 feet of ice-snow, and only my FR wheel was going, but I don't have quattro. seems like unless it froze to your wheels and got them stuck in place, the quattro would spin more of them, at least a little. but what do i know...

If u have ESP it will share the power,if not most goes to one wheel when it slips. Yes, cooler and gasket.
