Cv joint boot replacement
I need to do a boot replacement, and I am trying to convince my buddy that the 2 of us can DIY, except he has never done an Audi boot, and is afraid we will mess it up. How difficult is it, and how much time should I put aside for the job, and what tools will I need. Thanks.

RE: Cv joint boot replacement
Its easy, just messy. Hardest part is poping the joint over the "C" clip on the driveshaft. You have to take the joint off to do the boot. After that its cake i cleaned up as much grease as i could without taking it to a parts washer and then put new grease in. Which one is it on yours. Also you know you can buy the whole half shaft with a lifetime warranty at ecs for like $110.
photos for excitement and how messy it can get. http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...udi/BBK010.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...udi/BBK011.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...udi/BBK013.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...udi/BBK006.jpg |

RE: Cv joint boot replacement
look at AW's write up it the tech section. Umm what i did, to take the axle out was pop the upper control arms and swing it to therear and pull it out of the splinned area for the axle. Then I did the rear, unbolting it from the tranny.
