so i'm using the crappy dash cup holder yesterday and now the piece of **** won't close..it goes in till about and inch is still hanging out.. wtf!! when i bought the car the stupid thing wouldn't open. now it woun't close. gay. anyway anyone have this problem and or know whats causin it to stick out.. any help would be rad, or else i'm about to tear my dash apart. thanks

mine does the same just started a few weeks ago. if you notice now there is no spring pushing it out either. I think it is because the piece of plastic holding the spring broke off and is now lodged in there keeping it from closing it all the way.

gently remove the plastic cover. remove bolts holding it in. and see what is back there stopping it from closing.

 

yeah my cup holder broke somehow or another so i just took it out and put an ebc in that slot

 

yea the cup holders suk lol one reason it may someimes stick is because when we put drinks in there it causes it to stick from soda or juice spillin on the cup holder

 

driving a stick with no DECENT cupholders blows so bad. i gotta wake up extra early and drink coffee at my pad because i cant take it to school/work someone needs to make a great DIY or start making good onesand selling em

 

Buy a B7, we have nice cup holders and for some reason audi made a credit card holder in the place of the old push out cup holder. But yeah, i would take the cup holder assembly out and mess around with it... it's not much trouble at all, and should take no longer then 10 minutes or so.
