I was just wonder from what year did audi start to put the information lcd screen in the dash between the tach and the speedo? thanks-Derek

My '89 200 Turbo had one.

 

ya i was just curious with the A4, cause i am gonna be buy one in the next few months and that definitly something i want.

 

"LCD" started in either 99 or 2000... most all audis have the "OK" screen indicator that checks they system for low fluids/pads etc. but i think your talking about the one that tells you the outside temp/mpg etc.??

 

ya thats the one, my friend has a 2000 and his has it. i was just wondering how far back they came with them.

 

onepoint8tee, I'm not sure if your information about Audis in general is good, because like I said, my '89 200 Turbo had an LCD with all of the information. Hell, it even had climate control.

But even if you do get an A4, don't get your hopes up about the LCD - I bought mine with "only" 66,000 miles on it (a 1999.5) and my LCD still has a couple of lines that don't work. I've heard some people's just don't work at all.

 

guess im lucky on mine i gots 110k and still no lines or fading.......knock on wood......

 

haa.. That pic in that link is not a true lcd screen.. Im not sure if you should go judging my information of Audi's so quickly. I knew exactly what he was talking about and i answered his question.. To me, that says that my knowledge is ok. Oh and next time you try to "Audi Knowledge Bitch-Slap me" you should think twice because I know of a few people around here who can back me up that I have pretty good information on the car in question. And.. None of them are true LCD displays anyway.

 

It is still an MFD, it doesn't just say "OK". It showed me boost in bar, current gas mileage, outside air temperature, over all gas mileage, range, etc, etc. You made it sound like they only started putting those into Audis on the 99/00 models, and I just wanted to make sure the proper information was out there for everyone. I wasn't trying to make you look like an idiot, and I wasn't calling you out.
