Default Dashboard removal instructions?

Hi guys. I've been searching for instructions to remove the dashboard on my 99 A4 1.8T Q but haven't been able to find anything.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thank you in advance.

on the early ones you need to remove the air vents then get your hands in there and push the dash out, im sure they didn't change that much the dash just pushes out from the rear

Any screws in hidden or hard to reach places or is the dashboard attached in place by clips?

you are joking right?
You have to take out the center console/radio/hvac/speedo cluster unit, and thats just to start. What do you need to take out your whole dash for anyway??

I'm installing a radar detector, a sirius satellite cradle and the Harman Kardon Drive + Play unit (to control my ipod) and I'd like to keep the install as clean as possible with no wires showing anywhere.

I already did the same installation on my other car (a PT Cruiser) but the dashboard is very simple to remove on that car. Just a few screws, pull it out and that's it.

I wanted to know what I was up against here with my Audi dashboard.

If you are just trying to hardwire all that stuff its not necessary to remove the entire dash.

If it's that difficult to remove the dash then I guess I'll have to find a way to route the wires to the sides.

Can the pillars be removed without removing the dash?

Pillars are just clipped in, should pop right out.

Oh also if you have the window airbags, i dont think it maybe that easy.

There are ways to go thru the firewall without taking out the dash. You don't have to go around. But, if you do take the dash out, replace the A/C evaporator while you're in there.

Someone on this board said it was the hardest job they've ever done on a car.
