heres what i did:
1) use a heat gun
2) use laquer thinner to remove residue (go lightly if you leave it on to long it will eat through your clearcoat)
3) compund it
4) put a good coat of wax on it
and wala... done ..almost effortless

p.s. I was told to do this by my friend who works in a body shop as a painter. It worked great and did'nt even hurt the paint

I just left mine out in the sun for a while and used dental floss, no prob.

I did mine about a week ago. took like twenty minutes to do the job. and I love the look!
