Default Detonating 1.8t?

on really hot days if i punch it in my car the engine will click or detonate (only happens sporadically and only at first on really hot days) Is this normal? I want to chip the car but if its detonating occasionally on the reg program will i have problems? (i always use 93 oct from mobil)

Oh, hell yeah you will have problems but the first thing is to find out IF and why you are detonating. Are you fueling up with 93 octane? Is your MAF faulty? Go get it VAG'd.

Yep. You can get a diagnotics test from there or autozone as well.

That could be a sign of how the car was driven or its purpose for the previous owner, but not neccesarily. I'd just get it VAG'd.

most likely not... maybe after too many runs it will heatsoak the intercooler, but i dont think it will detonate. Maybe you have a vaccum leak , running a little lean.. which would cause detonation at high temps.
