Diagnostic Issues

Should most any shop with diagnostic equipment be able to troubleshoot: 1) Air bag indicator light and 2) problem with cruise control not working. Also can the indicator light be re-set? After a short time of ownership, we've decided to sell our 98 A4 Quatro 1.8 Turbo. It isn't working out for my wife and her business needs. I would like to correct these items before selling.

I'm assuming the air bag light issue is due to the fact that the passenger side air bag cover is a jar and bag is exposed!! I've complained to the dealership that repaired the vehicle for the previous owner but to no avail. I'm taking it to a local body shop to have adjusted so the cover will fit as it should. I would assume that the light would need to be reset or whatever at an automotive repair center rather than a body shop.

Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated on this!!

Thanks!

RE: Diagnostic Issues

The airbag cover coming loose probably has nothing to due with the airbag light. If your lucky some connections just need to be cleaned. Otherwise youll need a new airbag. The cruise not working is probably the switch, but most people wont even notice the cruise doesnt work untill after theyve bought the car.
