difference between 1.8T engines

Hallo,
I saw in Dahlback site about chip tuning. And there I read this:
"The above specified torque 236lb-ft is valid for 97 cars. On 95-96 cars the torque reaches 212 lb-ft and from 98 and onwards the torque reaches 260 lb-ft."
Can you tell me what is the difference between this engines. What are their designations?
I want to buy A4 B5 1.8T 150hp and I wonder which engine is better

are you sure those are audi motors they are talking about?

cause the audi 1.8 motors from what i recall....... all 1.8's prior to the awm motor were 150bhp, the awm moved up to a wapping 170bhp
but the vw has a 180bhp and i think 190bhp motor

That site's always been confusing.. I'm sure do to the translation. I'm sure your Dalhback dealer can give you better answers.

sounds like they got their years mixed up. anything pre-00(aeb engine) should be the same, the 00 and 01 should have different results due to the k03s

not 00, its 01+

99-00 have 150hp
2001+ 170hp

That's not entirely true.

pre 00 does have the AEB with the larger intake ports.

2000 has the ATW, whis basically an AEB with small intake ports, 19mm wrist pin (AEB has a 20mm), and it's the first year with throttle by wire. It still has 150hp.

01+ has the AWM. They changed a lot on the bottom end of the motor for the accessories, the head has variable valve timing, and one or two other things I can't remember off the top of my head that up the hp.

exactly, pre-00 should all have the same results cause they all have an aeb engine and regular old k03. i thought the k03s was introduced in 2000 for some reason. guess i was mistaken. but in 01 they added the k03s, changed the programming by .2 Bar, and lowered the compression slightly. VVT is for emission purposes only, not adding power

I purchased today an 01 after test drivin several 98,99's,00. There is a huge diffrence in highway passing power available and 3rd gear pulls much harder with the 170hp on tap. This car is so damn smooth i didn't realize i was doin 85 in a 45 on the 120 mile trip home till my boy who was following calls and is like slow the fuk down.lol Just seems a bit smoother and more refined then the 99's 150hp engine.
