Are there any big differences between the years of the b5's? What im saying is, if I was to get a 1998 A4, would it differ much from an '01?

 

The late 99's came out with the upgraded 1 piece headlights, different corner markers, different lowers, and the interiors are different as well. Different Head units and climate controls. In 01 I believe, maybe 00 don't remember, then upgraded the engine as well from 150hp (1.8T) to 170 (1.8T) and 170 (2.8) to 190 (2.8).

without going into too much detail, '01s have different tail lights, standard projector headlights(xenon optional), 1.8T has 170hp as opposed to 150hp on the '98......... just look at this........

About the tail lights: I believe the 96-97s have yellow turn signals on them, 98-99 has the red/clear tails but the reverse clear part is up top where as the 99.5-01 had the clear part lower.

 

That chart has one obvious error... and that is the 2001 sport wheels. Both 1.8T and 2.8 will have 17" 'celebrations' --> basically 17" RS4's

 

It was definately the 01 that had the 170hp 1.8t engine.
