Dipstick tube
So I was checking my oil and when I pulled on the ring on the top of the dipstick, rather than the dipstick pulling out, the top inch or so of the tube broke and came up with it. I'm not really sure what to do now. Can I drive it? Is it difficult(read expensive) to fix? Please help.

RE: Dipstick tube
Should be less than $15 at the dealer, i got mine from ECS for like $6-9 something around there. I drove mine for a couple of days like that shouldn't be to bad.

RE: Dipstick tube
you gotta learn not to pull your dipstick too hard...

RE: Dipstick tube
common and easy to fix, no worries.

RE: Dipstick tube
Get it from the dealer.
You will save the shipping. 7 bucks and change. One of the few inexpensive replacements for our babies. [:-] |

Hahaha, that's what I like to hear, thanks guys, I feel alot better now. How do you replace it, from underneath I would assume? It was dark when it happened so I didn't even get underneath the car to look for where the dipstick goes into the oil pan. Good to know it isn't gonna cost me an arm and a leg though, thanks.

RE: Dipstick tube
no u replace it from the top just grab the remainings of the dipstick tube guide with a pair of needle nose and just pop the new one on very simple

RE: Dipstick tube
Take your time, and make sure no tube parts fall inside while pulling the rest of the tubing.
You may need a very long nose plier. I wonder if we can unblot the coolant bottle to get access from the side. That could be easier, I guess. [:-] |
