We have a 2005 a4 3.0 convertible - only 80,000 miles . Transmission needs to be replaced. Audi america made us an offer of $6800 to replace!! It is hardly worth more than that. For a car that is suppose to be a luxury car, we have certainly had many (expensive) issues. Audi america has not been helpful and we are considering contacting a lawyer. They know they have problems with these transmissions, but are not doing anything about it. I might expect that from a gm, ford , etc, but not an audi.
Do not buy one, you will regret it.

 

Many of us enthusiasts on here wouldn't buy any car with a CVT.

Good luck to you whatever route you take. The upkeep on our cars isn't cheap... we have pretty much all felt your paint at one point or another.

 

Nope, avoid CVT at all costs.. IDK if its worth contacting a lawyer.. But I suppose a strong negotiator might be able to reason with them..

Otherwise contact a local used euro mechanic (usually a small shop that only deals in euro cars).. You might find that it just needs the control module changed.. If not they're usually open to finding and installing a used tranny for much cheaper then Audi would ever do ya..
