Let me tell you after reading all of the negatives about the A4 it seems that l may be better off looking at a BMW 3 series conv instead.

By the way l have noticed the prices dropping fast on the A4's but l'm talking about the 2004/05's (vert's). And with under 30,000 miles and even the dealers are starting to deal!

What gives?

You're totally right, man, we're all wrong. The A4 is a crappy car, you really should buy the BMW 3 Series. The reason all the prices are dropping is because since Audis are worse than Fords, nobody wants to buy them. It's a hoax, we all want to look cool in a pseudo-luxury German engineered car, but it's no BMW. We just can't afford true quality like you'll find in a BMW. Go with that, definitely.[]

 

cmon now, he is looking for some good input. You hear about the reliability, and yes, things can go wrong. but its not because they are bad cars. A) lemons exist with every car and B) these cars have mroe stuff going on, they are more complex, that makes more things that can break.

I have had my audi for over a year and i have had no problms to speak of.i got it with 99k miles and its at around 120k right now. these are great cars. if you havent noticed, recently all car companys have jumped in the style and design of cars, we have had a new leap in design and technology. the B5 adn B6 were on the edge of that leap and just missed the bus. it doesnt make them bad cars, just makes them bad timing.

BMW's will have issues too. its not to say they are bad cars, their good cars. but i, as do many here, prefer audi. the engineering seams to be more solid adn thought out. and besides, you cant beat the best AWD system in the world..QUATTRO!!

You probably don't want to get a BMW 3 series, because every other person in the world has one. The interior, handling, reliability, and power of the Audi are all greater than the competing BMW.

The reason we're all posting some "negative" stuff about the A4 is because there's alot of people who like to do their own mechanical work on the forum, and they ask for advice on how to fix certain things; while these things that they're trying to fix may not necessarily be serious issues. But yeah, if you go to a BMW-based forum, you'll find just as much "negative stuff" as here -- all cars have their cons.

 

people post problems, nobody is interest in the thread of "Everything is ok, just letting you know"

 

+1, good call. i am all for people learning to work on cars, but for people with no experience, Audi's arnt the best choice to learn on due to their complexity. that said, you can tell that most of the problems, someone can fix in their garage without ever taking it to a dealer and spending an arm, leg, and possible a left nutt []

 

Yeah, that too. Audis are really complicated and fun to work on, but you have to know what you're doing, so people ask for advice and opinions here as to what they should do.

BMWs are common
they are decent but the 3series isnt much.. audi kills their interior,exterior and the quattro... ??? well enough said

also consider what others have said too, people come to forums to find solutions to problems... people arent here to fix something that isnt broke.... but we generally are able to share our experiences, what has worked and what hasnt... what products we liked and why...

any car will have a forum and if u go there, u will generally find people asking about solutions to problems...

my audi is no rocket but with a APR 1+ chip, suspension and few other mods, its a great buy, thats a blast to drive!

also prices are dropping because an 04-05 (b6)model lets say is 3-4 years old depending on build date and audi has since made the b7 and b8s are coming out late this year i think? or very soon anyway so you are looking at cars that have had two body updates and gone to a new series (FSI) engine... nothing wrong with ours though.. i bought my 04 ultrasport over a 06 USP because i just didnt care for the body style
