Ok. lets start off...don't get a CONVERTABLE! Screws up the body lines of the car...only car I don't think it does is...well...a Lamborghini. Anyways...Audi all the way. You will probably want the Superior AWD, not some X version, which could mean...well...anything. Unless you get a newish 335xi (not sure if they made the 335 in the x version) I would get the Audi. Wait, I change my mind, forget the BMW all together and get a S4.

ORIGINAL: Notahondaowner

Not many people aside from Audi owners can truly say they look forward to their drive TO work.
sooo true

the thing i love about my b5 is that it is such a timeless design. people (who don't know cars) ask me all the time if it is a new car, they don't know that it's almost 10 years old. let's compare that to a 1998 mustang

+1 to the timeless thing, i get comments all the time on how my car 'cant be 8 years old it looks brand new' and ive driven both the 3 series and of course my a4...and i think my choice says a lot on where im going with this. the a4 is a much better buy i think, and also y worry about maintenance if you get a warrenty?? also my friend had a 7 series(which was a hand-me-down a.k.a. for free) and still traded it in cause the car had to go to the shop at least once or twice a month. i kno it was the computer and everything but still, thats a lot of days of work to miss.

you say the bimmer is $5k more now. do you really think it'll be worth $5k more after your wife racks up over 86k miles on a 7-9 yr old car? no way. lost $ there. having many friends and family w/bmw, mb, audi, mb is insane to repair. bmw and audi are about on par in price and frequency. if you get any kind of foul weather, the quattro is amazing. before you buy, drive both cars in the rain. audi 1st, the bmw. you'll notice what's missing. also, note that we here seem to be a really hands on bunch of people. most bmw owners i know couldn't show you their brake fluid cap, but that's cause they don't want to know where it is.
