Default dumb question, but still a question

i woke up friday with a flat tire, and for the past 2 damn days i have been tring to get the wheel off. does anyone know what size socket to use for the bolts? because the tire iron that comes with the car is to big, and i saw that an 11/16 socket fits, but a socket wrentch will not do the job. does any one know, or can explain to me how to take it off? 98 a4 1.8tQu

thanks

All audis use a 17mm lug for the wheels. Since audi uses a bolt style lug instead of a nut style, the lugs will naturally tighten themselves over time, so you will probably need a breaker bar to get it loose. If you don't have one, just put a long pipe over the wrench you have. When you put the wheel back on, torque the lugs to 90 ft.-lbs. And yes I used to work at a tire shop, so this is the correct info.

yup torque is defined as power x length of lever arm. so if you ever have problems getting a lug or something off just make the lever arm longer, it'll save you a lot of stress

Q7's use 19mm and have a higher torque.
