Default Early 98 Keyless replacement

Hey guys, I have an early 1998 2.8 quattro. I have had to replace the keyless unit with a used one already. I am prepared to buy another, but is it possible to program the car with the switchblade unit???

The car does not have the transponder encoding, just have to use the two keys to program the keyless unit.

If you use the search funtion, this has been discussed before, but you're new so here's the repeat.

Yes, it is possible to buy another switchblade key and re-program it. I bought a 3 button for my wife's 98, had it cut and programmed it. Go to www.audiworld.com and look under the tech section for the instructions. Basically you stick your current key in the ignition and click it forward as far as it will go before starting (don't start). Then there's some locking, unlocking and button pressing. There's an order so just look it up.

This is the early model, so will the keyless part of the switch blade be compatible, even though I got the two separate pieces with the car??
