ebay vag?

Any feedback on these ebay vagcom tools? I'd definatly rather pay 20$ instead of the ross tech 200$ if it'll work the same. I've been around long enough to notice everyone here hates ebay products for their audis and i understand why but this isn't a car part, just a tool I need. Any info or opinions would be appreciated.

My vag is off of e-bay and it worked for a grand total of 4 months before it died. Next pay check I am just going to buy a real one from Rosstech and do it right. Yeah its expensive, but at least i know it'll work when i want to read a code!
The ebay versions are cheap, and will work with some old versions of the Rosstech software in a limited fashion. It will probably work for reading codes, but not guaranteed to work.
besides, the
Ross tech doesn't cost 200 dollars. I figure it has saved me a grand. Plus, when/if I sell my Audi, I can sell the RossTech version on ebay for 150 and recoup much of the original cost.

I just bought that same exact cable off ebay and it seems to work fine. Here is a good walk through on how to get it to work and change some convience-type codes: Ebay VAG-COM Cable Walkthrough
I am brand new to the Audi world and VAG-COM so I am not real sure whether the real-time wheel speed sensor monitoring will work with this cable. One important thing to point out is that you will definitely have to get some better software than the free version (wouldn't let me change Module 9 codes) and this type of cable apparently won't work with the newer versions of VAG-COM.

How would one obtain older vag com software to use with this cable?

But like I said earlier, some stuff doesn't work. I was able to do the windows up/down on the key fob and turn off the seatbelt chime yet I was unable to turn off the ambers on my halogen lights. Others say they have been able to do it with bi-xenons but it seems there is a shareware issue involved. As far as logging, etc. I haven't done any of that, I just got my car and haven't had a need......yet. Good Luck.
