Default ecu code problem

Hi people, got a very strange problem with my audi a4 1.8 I took the car for a code scan today and they scaned it using vag-com it returned 4 codes 3 related to the throttle body and one to the lamda probe, however when they tried to clear the codes 3 codes cleared but one relating to the throttle body wouldn't clear,[j388 throttle body base setting fault] now they want to send the ecu off to check its not fault, however after about 5 mins they couldn't get the car to start when they pulled the plugs out they were dry no fuel getting through, looked at fuel filter looked corroded, due you think the ecu could be knacked,if so would another adr ecu work in place of my one, as i understand the ecu controls the immobiliser any ideas would be great kind regards mickyboy10001
