Default Engine Management System...

Hey guys,

My first time on this....
I've got an A4 2001 2.0... bought 3 months ago... love it to bits but..
The Engine Management Sytem light keeps coming on. Ever since I bought it its been on and off about 10 times... the strange thing is the car runs fine..
I've taken it to a mechanic and they gave me a list of codes and said if they really were faults the car wouldn't run... they just reset the system, and sent me packing...
The light just came on again tonight...
Anyone have any idea what it could be???

Codes are -18043, 17698, 17545, 17072, 17645, 17647, 17648, 17646, 18010

Much appreciated
Walls

Am I the only one with an engine management light problem?

Not sure what to tell you exactly, I had some problems with warning lights and while my car runned fine there was problem with my Cat. Converter and Mass Air Intake. If I were you I'd take it to an Audi dealership and see what they say....

Forgot to mention that I was told the lights were no real problem either, luckily I took it to the dealership and the cat. converter was just barely still under warranty!

By the way.. the lights seams to come on when I over rev the engine, or for no reason at all... did that happen to you? The mechanic I took it to is quite reputable... he said it might have had some engine work done (what ever that means????).... I'm worried I bought a dud?

Yo Jestnomen,
This sounds expensive... I aint that mechanically endowed... but I think I can manage to tighten the gas cap... the rest I'll leave for a professional..
taking it in again tomorrow.

Wish me luck

Nah none of those are very expensive. You can do most of it yourself very easily. The coolant temp sensor is like 40 bucks or something, and an easy replacement.
