Engine, Options codes and radios
Hi All,
OK just signed up... and more importantly just got me new Audi A4 1.8T Sport :-))) Very happy with it so far.
I have a quick couple of questions how can I determine the BHP of the engine.. been asking around and some say 150 others 170. The Engine code is AVJ
Next question is in the service booklet that came with the car the first page lists a load of 3 character codes that are 'optional' extras... is there a list somewhere that I can decode these with?
The car is a 2001 model and has the concert radio. Is this CD changer ready i.e. is it all ready cabled up and I just need to find the end in the trunk/boot and does the radio detect it automatically or does it have to have switches or codes made?
thanks in advance

2001 A4's have 170 HP
You can find out what options your car has by registering on audiusa.com, click on "my audi".
All A4's are changer ready. The cable is in the left wheel well in the trunk.

i believe all A4s come pre-wired for the cd changer.....your car has 170, they bumped it up from 150 in '01.....you can sign up for "My Audi" on audiusa.com and they will tell you all the options installed on your ride...
EDIT: SON OF A B$*#H!!! jest, how do you do that?

Thanks for the info guys...
Do you have any CD changer recommendations. Wouldnt mind something that could play MP3 but just having bought the car money is a constraint

Well you don't have many options. If you want oem you are going to have to find one on ebay probably. They don't play mp3s. You would have to wire up an Ipod to do that.
