Default Exhaust System Problem

My 1999 A4 1.8T Wagon has started sounding like a Jet plane. The Exhaust system has no leaks. What might the problem be?

Alright describe the sound because jet engine is not specific enough for us to know what the problem is

It is very loud as the speed gets above about 40 mph. I ending up turning the radio volume up to help drown it down. For what it is worth, it is the original exhaust system and the car has about 87,000 miles on it. Thanks.

It probably is an exhaust leak, maybe the gasket to your cat is bad take it to a muffler shop and have em lift it up and take a look at it

You sound like my wife....
You saying it happens at all speeds, even idle, and only gets louder at 40mph? Does it get louder the harder you step on the gas?

I agree. It is most likely a leak in the flex pipe at the front.
