The A/C fan / electric radiator fan in the front of the car is starting up again since its summer time. It getting really annoying if I'm just sitting at a stoplight and I sound like a jet plane. So my question is can I just unplug this fan? the plug is very accessible from under the front. Would this hurt anything, besides making the car run a little warmer, maybe? Will my A/C suffer? I mean its in the 70's around here and I have a leaf blower under my hood.

 

you could unplug it but the A/C wont work (in fact it could damage it ) if you turned it on because it will overheat, fit a new fan motor

Replace the fan? Sounds like the bearing is wearing.

If you unplug it, which you can, just make sure you dont run the A/C at all.

 

Does the fan only run when the AC is on? There are two fans, and I think one only runs with the AC on, and the other cools the radiator.

If it's the AC fan, leave the AC off and roll down the windows until you get it replaced. If it's the radiator fan, don't disconnect it or your car will overheat.

 

Which fan is it? Our A4 fan noise is coming from the air pump behind the bumper cover on the passenger side. That thing turns out and look out, you could get sucked in. I hunted the noise last night in the middle of replacing the radiator.

Is it supposed to be that loud?

I have the same problem also. When i turn my AC on the fan is really loud, loud like its rotating really fast. The way i get around it is by turning my music on a little louder
