its a common problem, you can buy one used or go to the stealership

They never made any improvements on its design, so even if you get a new one it will most likely happen again, especially if its used. There is or was a class action suite against Audi for the defect and there has been no resolution that im aware of. To buy it new costs over $500 i think.. The majority of us just deal with it. You might notice the pixels fade and come back to life depending on outside temps. Mine has almost all pixels active in the winter months and not so much in the summer.

I guess Im lucky (unless mine was replaced before I bought it). Mine has no pixel issues at all, and it was in 100 degree weather this summer, and a few nights of below zero out here in Montucky. Come to think of it, I think Jp A4's is fine too, however when I worked at the shop, I noticed a lot of Audi's that had problems with them. And come to think of it I remember a 2.8 A4 that came in with 260,XXX miles on it before I bought my car, because I asked him how well he like his. The guy was in his 50's and said that he just maintained it routinely, and never had any major problems... other than the balljoints (which even he knew was very common).

I just got quoted $575 at the stealership and if you don't give them the old cluster they charge you another $350. There no reason why I would keep the old one but I asked anyway.. Don't think it's worth it, pay that much and get an engine upgrade or something instead..

Its called planned obsolescence. AKA sh!t breaks, so you have to pay them to fix it. Good business strat, sucks to be us :)

I would love to find out about that class action suit and whether or not Audi is going to do anything about it. Did you get yours fixed? Mine stays on for 3 minutes until the car warms up.
