Default fast blinker. questiion..

so the housings around my blinker on my e-codes melted a little bit. its not too noticable but the reason
for this is the fact that in europe they dont have corners that light up permanentley when the headlights are on.
they just blink when the blinker is on and thats it, so the housing isnt ment to handle heat. anyways i went out
and bought a set of those fancy LED light bulbs. this will work just fine because LEDs dont get hot at all. but, ok
heres my problem, for some reason my car thinks my bulb is out when instead its just not recognizint that there
is a LED in the socket so this forces the blinker in to fast mode and it drives me crazy, how can i override this?

the damage is minor, but im glad i caught it before it got worse

the car thinks your bulb is burnt out cuz the current draw from an LED is extremely low. what you will probably need to do is wire in a resistor after the LED to bring up the load. i'm not sure exactly what you're gonna need for a resistor value. but make sure you use a large wattage resistor.....like a 1/2 watt or so.

i'm sure if you do a search on yahoo or google you'll be able to find people who had the same problem

yea youre right, theres a resistor i can buy but it sucks because i will need to connect this to each bulb.

the resistor is bulky and overpriced

actually looking at it again its really not that bulky.

where did you buy the e codes mine did the same thing except mine did melt a bit. [IMG][/IMG] i thought it was cause the bulb flaired up for a sec. i have also had these lights on for almost 2 months. do you think it is a manufacture defect if a normal bulb will melt the housing?

thanks i got mine from ecs. i wish they said something about this to me. do you think you could just get a single filiment buld and tape off the second conector that makes the bulb be on continuous? and just be used as a blinker

you could do that..........but my guess is that you're gonna get a code for burnt out signals

no this wont give you a code go for it. thisis what i did because i hated the fast blinker and putting on a resistor was just too much. a
