Finally, SNUB!!

Hey everyone, well from my last post a mth ago, i was about to purchase a snub mount. i checked with all the sellers adn decided to go with GREEDSPEED. I purchased it and after a few emails, greedspeed realized that doing transactions with Canadian Banks proved too difficult (not sure why?) so i cancelled that order. But a few praises for GreedSpeed, they have GREAT customer support and prompt emails. Whenever i sent an email, they replied within 12hrs.

So today (August 27/05) i went ahead and tried through APR. i wish i could have purchased this locally but no one has them in stock. Total came to $100CAD (shipping is a b*tch)!!! So now i am VERY excited, from what i have heard, i will definitely feel this mod =)

One quick question from people who have installed this on their cars;

I have a '98 Audi A4 1.8t Quattro. Do i have to shave part of the snub? Do i need to do anything or just fit it on the car?

Thank you very much......

And again, Thank you to everyone for your feedback and general knowledge

do you have a tip or a manual? if it's a tip you will likely have to do a little shaving...PM david9999, he had to do it to his car, he can probably give you a couple pointers...also, when you're installing it, pop it in the microwave for 10-20 seconds to soften it up. i struggled with mine for a good 25 minutes before i got it on, because at the time i was unsure if it was safe for the microwave.

i didnt know, but thanks for the heads up.

My car is 5spd manual, will i still need to shave? how necessary is microwaving the snub? i will be doing this at my friends shop.

you will probably be ok, the only people i've heard of that needed to shave theirs was tip owners....microwaving the snub mount for 10 seconds will save you a good 20 minutes of struggling underneath your car...i did it the hard way, and i had myself and my brother working at it for quite a while. i used the greedspeed mount, so i would imagine the apr mount will be even more difficult than that...if you don't have access to a microwave at the shop (which you might, i would ask), then take a heatgun and heat it up a little...i did it in 75 degree weather without heating it up at all and it was a B!TCH.

on apr they said some audis need shaving some dont. they werent specific on what models or years etc..... either or shaving it isnt a big deal and when it comes time to install it i put a wrench across the top of the adjustable housind that fits around the mount then pushed the radiator and it popped on no prob.

sorry to hijack:
but do anyof you guys know what direction the mount moves? i have plenty of room around my mount and i want to adjust the housing so when i launch the mount doesnt have much movement.

RE: Finally, SNUB!!

yea, i used a small pry bar and stuck it across the opening of the snub 'housing', then just pushed on the front clip til it popped in...but it's not easy, especially getting the mount to go on straight.

sandman, you will want to lower the housing down for less movement...but that might cause excess vibrations
