Given what you have already changed, my guess is that you probably have a bad ICM (ignition control module). The best way to check it is with a voltage meter. To check it, unplug the connector on the coil pack side (should be 4 prongs), turn the key to the on position and check the voltage at every connector--they should all be nearly the same. I can't remember what the exact reading should be. I'm sure you can find it if you search around. Make sure you check it before you replace it. Those things are fairly expensive.

Also make sure you get a scan now and report the codes.

If you had a bad fuel pump you would misfire on more than one cylinder.

I work on a Army base and it happened at work 40 miles from my house, I took it to the garage at my work... he scanned and it reported misfire in two cylinders. Also returned code 1300 which he said is ignition. I am taking it to AP tuning on thursday which specialize in Audi.... around how are we talking for an ICM? thanks for all the replies

Don't drive a car with a flashing CEL. The malfunction can ruin your catalytic converter.

Is it ok to drive when the CEL is steady on? I have a misfire in cylinder 2 that isn't fixed yet, but I just haven't had time to figure it out. Autozone codes were p0300 and p0302. I changes coils and plugs to no effect.

I think the ICM goes for $150 to $200.
