Flat tire...

So, this afternoon (between 11:00 am when I last drove the car and now), my front driver-side tire went flat. My question is, do I have to replace all four tires if I replace the one? I have read on here that different diameters will throw off the quattro pretty bad.

Also, I have a can of fix-a-flat in the trunk, would it be advisable to use that to get me to a tire place?

The general rule is if your gonna change one then change all at the same time. But if your tires have minimal wear just replace the flat one, with the same brand of course. Yea the fixaflat should hold up to get you there, no worries. I wouldn't worry about messing up the quattro system, depending on the tread wear its only about maybe 1/8in difference there, if that.

OR you could go to a tread mart and have them fix your tire without replacing it. give it to em theyll have it done in an hour or 2. cheeper and easier

Use fix-a-flat as your last option... Like if your on the side of the road with no spare tire, that shit gets all over the inner side of the tire and makes it stick to the rim, the rim gets covered in goop, its not fun...

Have the hole patched...

Fix a flat can also reduce the ability of the patchsticking especially when it is not fully removed from the tire.

It depends on where the hole is. If the hole is in the tread side, it may be easier to just patch it up. Most tire places will patch up tires for a nominal fee. If your hole is on the sidewall or the corner of the tire, it is impossible to fix. Then you have to buy a new tire... preferably one that matches the other three. Well from what i have heard you should keep the diameter the same and when you get a flat you can just replace that one and the one on the other side. especially cuz its the front ones the wear will be differnt and will be a pain to try and fix. just replace the flat one and the pass-side one. easier in the long run.
