Default Fuel filter installed on B6. Cake.

Installed my fuel filter tonight on my 03' 1.8TQ. It was a 15 minute job.

Remove the under belly pan covering the fuel lines and filter. There are two screws, a push pin, one nut, and a loosening nut to remove/loosen.

You now have access to the filter.

Remove the screw holding the strap on the filter. The filter is now free.

To remove the lines on the filter: You'll see a button type deal on the connections that you'll need to press in to disconnect them from the filter. I did this using a pair of pliers. You'll lose a little fuel when you disconnect them.

Put the new filter on and plug the lines back in. Strap it back in and put the pan back on.

Filter change complete.

Double check for leaks and do a TB reset.

B5 is a PAIN IN THE ***

it took 3 hours of ******* around to get it out.............Apparently the filters are suppose to be good for the life of the car, which isnt quite so. But IMO thats why its a bitch to get out, and a flaw that they relized and fixed on the B6.

Deffinitley a - for the B5 A4

Heres another question why is their 2 fuel tanks, a larger one and a smaller one. Is the smaller one a reserve?, cause theirs only one fuel pump that i could see.

I honestly think Audi is giving a load of total **** there. Fuel filters do wear out at around 60-70k.. my 94k one had black **** soming out... LIFE of the car? Do they expect you to buy new Audi once the filter is clogged?

Hi All,

Thank you very much for the helpful information you all provide.

I just got a2003 A4 1.8T and am looking to replace the fuel filter on it. I went to AutoZone and they ordered this for me: http://www.autozone.com/selectedZip,.../selectZip.htm

It only has the in and out connection, but when I looked under my car at the filter that is on there, it has line connections in the middle and off center on both the front and back. Do I have a different filter on my car than what is standard?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The link you posted is not to the right fuel filter. The one you see under your car is the correct one. You can order it from ECStuning.com for 41 dollars. search for fuel filter and scroll down, it is there but there is no picture of it. Cancel the autozone one
