Fuel Pump Help ASAP!!!
Hello everyone!! I have a 1997 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro, I am replacing my fuel pump and need some help. I am wondering if anyone has a link to removing the pump from the tank. I cant figure out how to get out out? I am pretty mechanically competent but can figure this one out. I have the cover in the trunk off, the hoses removed and the top off of the tank. I can see the pump in there but cant figure out how to get it out of the housing!! Any help ASAP would be much appreciated!! If anyone knows of a write up, link, PDF or anything it would help greatly!! Oh, I love my Audi-wish I would have gotten a 1.8T though. Thanks!! Aron
this is for an A6 but u do the same thing. the fuel pump is accessed in the trunk in our cars. just lift the carpet and u'll see a round cover.

I believe whats under the cover in the trunk is a fuel sender not the pump.
The pump is located under the seat on the passenger's side, pull up the bench seat and you should see the cover.

Thanks for the link hiwords. The A6 pump is directly below the opening, mine is not.Mine is over some and is not very easy to get to. U cant get the screwdrivers in there-at least I couldnt. Anyone done this before on a A4, do we need the special tool to? Mine is a 1997 A4 2.8 12V Quattro. There is not much room to work with in there.ANY HELP, tips or tricks would be appreciated!!! THank you, Aron
i did mine on my car... its a real biatch! bout two hours of my hands in gas!
fortunately for me i had just topped off my tank when it went![sm=headbang.gif]
just play around, you will see how it all goes... in hindsight i would just pay someone to do it.. too much trouble on that one!
