Just signed up so lookin forward to seeing what topics come up on the forum.
I actually have a VW Passat at the moment but im purchasinga 2001 A4 2.5 TDI V6 Quattro in the next 2 weeks once everything gets sorted. Ive never had one of these and I also dont know anybody who owns one so I am hoping to get some good advice / info from here. Does anybody have experience with the 2.5 TDI Quattros? Is there anything I should be carefull of before I actually hand over the cash? Any commom problems with the engine or the 4 wheel drive system or gearbox? I presume not but I would be gratefull for any advice I recieve.

at least its a turbo. how much is diesel going for over there?

 

Diesels around €1.00/litre give or take, most filling stations are there abouts anyway.

 

well the TDI's in the states definately hold their own, and on top of that quattro is the best!, I'd bet that motor and tranny will run to 300,000 miles easily as long as you properly maintain it...good luck on the purchase, what model, year are you looking at?

 

Its the B5 2001. There is72,000 miles up on it at the moment so im not too worried about the mileage as i bought my Passat TDI with 90,000 on it and it hasnt given me the slightest bit of trouble.

 

Whatever you do, take it to the mechanic who services your VW and have him go over it before you buy. It will be he best investment you make
