Going to put in GM synchromesh...
Before you all poo-poo me for this I'd like to state a few reasons WHY I'm switching.
My 1-2 shift cold is amazingly rough, but once warm its fine 3rd feels a little notchy Some VW guys run this stuff and sewar by it Now, what's in my car - Castrol 75w90 - GL5 approved stuff. So I need to get it out of there anyway. I've read raves on GM Semi-synthetic Synchromesh. The cheaper Pennzoil and QS synchromesh fluids I haven't read as good of things. So, I need to get the fluid i have in there, out since it's GL5, and I figure I'm going 2 quarts Synchromesh and 1 quart 75w90 GL4. I'll let everyone know how it goes |
RE: Going to put in GM synchromesh...
let us know how it works out
i just developed a noise in first gear so im going to do a fluid flush and if this works, i'll go with that |
RE: Going to put in GM synchromesh...
Yeah I mean I can't say that as far as longevity goes it will be a true alternative, but even if I can change this stuff every 40k I'm all for it.

RE: Going to put in GM synchromesh...
good point, audi says their fluid never has to be changed
|
RE: Going to put in GM synchromesh...
Yeah, the fluid doesn't need to be changed, just the transmission... :D

RE: Going to put in GM synchromesh...
Audi... So blissfull in their ignorance. The only company that claims to have magical "lifetime" fluids. Turd sandwiches...

Must be using synlube

RE: Going to put in GM synchromesh...
Update: I was reading on the vortex that Synchromesh is nearly an 80w, which means it's pretty close to GL4 spec. I don't think I'm going to put in any 75w90 after reading that and I'll just go with the 3 quarts of synchromesh.
BTW: I might not be able to get this done this weekend as the weather may be turning on me... [:@] |

ORIGINAL: Lazer Viking good point, audi says their fluid never has to be changed Probably devised by the same guy in marketing who said you can go 105K miles before changing the timing belt. |
RE: Going to put in GM synchromesh...
LOL... the point is, after the warranty I doubt Audi gives a rip...
