Default Good intake?

I know i know, I wont see any increase in performance, but I just want the sound and the throttle reponse. So my question is, would this intake work with my 2000 if I get a small filter to go on my air pump hose? Also, will that metal thing work as a heatshield and what is that weird "chip" looking thing on it?

that weird chip looking thing kinda looks like an ICM. doesn't look like the ICM on my car, but it still has the same 2 connections.

and that intake looks almost identical to the evoms intake i have

You think $140 is a good deal for that intake? it will work with my 2000 1.8t if I get a small filter for the air pump right?
What does a Ignition Control Module do?

it sends a signal from the cam to each of the coilpacks

and 140 is a decent price, but you could probly find better. technically you could build one for a lot cheaper. you just need a single u-bend, a filter, and some clamps

over a homemade one? no. over stock? to make the dv louder, maybe increased throttle response

Whats a good filter that will provide the best quality of air? whats the best place to get the U pipe and parts to build an intake?

k&n is good. most exhuast shops would be able to create the u bend, or you can buy one off then internet. just make sure its 2.75" and you get a 2.75" silicon coupler. it doesn't necessarily have to be a u bend tho. that's just the most popular. before the TIP is the MAF, then before the MAF is however you want to set up your intake. with the stock airbox out you can see the room you have to work in

you can setup whatever kind of intake you want. most choose the u-bend cause it places the filter farthest away from the scalding hot turbo. but you can also (in order from cheapest to best) slap a filter directly on the MAF, do a single 90* bend and place filter on end, do a 90* bend and a 90* coupler and place filter on end, or do a u-bend and slap a filter on the end.

ITG Filter is better then a k&n, both are good though.

I've used K&N for alot of years on a couple of cars and never had a problem, but I'd seen some convincing arguments in favor of a dry foam filter opposed to the oiled cotton systems. All of it is oriented around cars with MAF sensors.

My next will be a HKS 3 layer dry filter. If nothing else, it will break my ongoing habit of K&N so I can speak intelligently about another option.
